Going hunting with your kids or grandchildren is, in itself, a terrific experience for both adult and youngster. Sharing a favorite pastime with your favorite people creates a camaraderie that lasts a lifetime. If you can, at the same time, create a relevant need for students to learn math, science and communication skills, that is a bonus. I learned a long time ago, when my son was in second grade, that learning to read for a grade or simply for the love of learning, was not a motivation for him. As he struggled with reading worksheets, I searched every avenue to discover the reason for his difficulties. I had his vision and hearing tested, listened to him read aloud at home, and read to him. Nothing seemed to improve his C in reading.
Just because your child will be playing fun online games does not mean the same value will not be there. Create a comfortable study zone. Turn off outside distractions such as cell phones, radios or TVs. Make sure your child is not tired or hungry so that he or she can focus all attention on learning. Also try to keep the lessons consistent with what is being learned in school. A quick chat with the teacher or signing up for an online newsletter from the classroom are ways to keep tabs on the lesson plans. Since 3rd grade math relies on the concepts that were learned during kindergarten, first and second grades, do not be afraid to start your child at a lower level. With adaptive learning, the programs will not move on to the next level until your child has a firm grasp on the current material. The online games will be a wonderful way for your child to catch up on basic arithmetic concepts and be comfortable using them across applications.
Addition worksheets can be a big help to your home schooling. Worksheets can give your kids a boost in their math or they can become a big pain in the neck, a source of contention, and the scene of many battles. It is all up to you. Worksheets should be used to help your child remember math facts. Children need to know their basic facts without thinking. By knowing their facts automatically, they become faster at their math while making fewer mistakes. This helps them score better on standardized tests and helps you on a day-to-day basis. How?
