Ask yourself these questions when preparing a handout whether it is for the first day of school or just a plain ordinary lesson on teaching reading strategies. What is the aim of the handout? Will I grade the handout? Will I go over the handout in class or collect it? How much percentage will I give for handouts for the final grade? Is my handout well prepared? Do students have enough information to tackle the subject matter of the handout? Are the instructions crystal clear? Do I want the students to finish the handout at home or during class time?
Patterns and sequencing and basic addition and subtraction should follow on from counting and number recognition. By the time your child is starting kindergarten or school, they should be able to count to 20 with ease, write numbers, do simple addition sums, and have some understanding of patterns and sequences. Even if they are attending preschool, extra practice at home will help them improve their math. A systematic set of mathematics worksheets will help you teach your child the basic principles of math and help them prepare for school. Worksheets can be used as the basis for counting and adding games and other activities. Teaching your child with worksheets also makes them more comfortable with doing worksheets - which will help them when they get to kindergarten and school, where worksheets are used every day.
With the predominance of digital audio and video in our daily lives, we left reading a little aside. However, these media present the facts without giving us a chance to reason. On the other hand, it is often said that reading is a passive activity. Nothing is further from the truth. Reading is a complex activity which consists of a large number of different acts. We read to find out who we are and to enrich our lives. Reading is an act of connection. We look from where we are to what is around us and to the possible avenues of future. Reading largely forms our understanding of being a part of an existential community where we can share thoughts and emotions. When we read, perhaps, we are not in the same year together, not even in the same room, but we are close. We are having "a meeting of the minds.
