Here are some other sharing subjects to explore: Take Away Store - hot chips (35 per cup), milk shakes (3/4 cup of milk per shake) - how much for 26 people? Concert -toilet paper - 10 sheets per person, 100 sheets per roll, 3 000 people attending- how many rolls? Dog Shelter - 1 cup of biscuits large dog, 3/4 cup for medium dog etc - how much for 10 big, 5 medium etc? Jelly bean competition - Big jar took 12 bags of jelly beans - 124 beans in 1 bag - how many beans in total? These are a great way to explore a range of math skills. Choose one subject and choose questions that relate to that. An obvious one is school: At Collins State School there are 23 students in Kindergarten, 24 in Grade 1, 23 in Grade 2, 18 in Grade 3, 22 in Grade 4, 17 in Grade 5, 19 in Grade 6 and 22 in Grade 7. How many students are there in the whole school?
Truly, your little cute child has all the capacity to learn virtually anything while he is yet innocent-looking infant. According to researches, children who were trained and developed during these informative years proved to be more alert and more active in school than those who were not. I am not saying that if you do not train your child during these early years will totally be a failure. No child is born a genius, and none is born a fool. Other children have inherited skills and talents from their parents that contribute to their confidence as they grow up. Others too who were not pre-schooled can learn things easily. The more connections the better. We also know now that boredom destroys dendrites. Small children quickly become bored with worksheets, especially skill and drill worksheets. Yet another reason to avoid skill and drill worksheets like the plague. Never allow your child to use a worksheet unsupervised. Some parents use worksheets to provide time to fix supper or add another load of laundry. Unfortunately, while you are npt looking, your child just might have practiced a mistake several times. The time you thought you saved is not nearly as much time as it will take to fix that mistake. If you consistently do these things, you might be able to successfully use worksheets; but, seriously, a few minutes of your personal time will provide better learning for your child than a truckload of worksheets.
